Menswear Mondays: Summer Shoes
Happy Monday Men, and welcome to Menswear Mondays! As a woman, men's fashion has always been something super intriguing to me. I feel as though men have one-track mind when it comes to style, and are scared to try new things; when in reality, there are so many different things that men can do with their outfits. Sometimes, men's outfits can even be more versatile than women because men's clothing is made for any body size or shape.
From a women's point of view there is nothing more attractive than a well dressed man, especially when guys have nice shoes. It sounds a little superficial, but a woman can tell a lot about a man by his shoes. A Nike boy is usually sporty, while a flip-flop man is probably laid back and relaxed. Men like to wear the easiest and most comfortable shoes. However, there are many ways to stay comfortable while still looking impressive and well put together.
This first group of shoes fall under the "casual" category. From Sperry's, to Toms, to Vans; these shoes are perfect to pair with some jeans or cargo pants. They're comfortable enough to walk around all day in when spending the day out with the family or going from class to class on a hot summer day.
These next shoes are definitely for a risk-taker, and will make any outfit look outstanding. Whether you're wearing a suit and tie to work, or trying to dress up a blazer and jeans, these shoes are perfect for a date night or for that job interview you've been stressing over.
Lastly, and I'm sure all of your favorites, the "comfortable" category. If you MUST wear flip flops, and that's an absolute must, pick a pair that compliments your outfit and fit right! No ratty 5 year old flip flops that you dug out of your high school swim bag. Or, if you're going for a more athletic look, try some high-top or sporty sneakers. They're still comfortable and cute! If you want to cheat and make your shoes look a little more dressy than they really are, try a pair of these fake sneaker Vans, or loafer UGGS. Yes, I said UGGS. Men, don't be scared of that word, you would be surprise at how comfortable they are and there are plenty of different looks so you won't feel like you're wearing "girl shoes."
So next time you wanna throw on those old ugly adidas flip flops with some socks, try something a little more sophisticated and make a good impression.
