Samina Mughal Runway Collection
As New York’s Spring & Summer 2015 Fashion Week is coming to a close, designers have presented their latest upcoming trends that we can expect to see come spring! On Saturday August 30th, AWESOMEiTV presented the launch of the Samina Mughal Runway Collection that took place at the INC Hotel in New York City. Guests arrived at 8:00pm for cocktails and music produced by NYCDJCHAD & XAVIER STEEEL who created a fun atmosphere for the guests throughout the night. The fashion show began at 9:30pm with women’s wear presented by Samina and ended with a special menswear collection presented by Heights + Kenchi.
Born and raised in England, Samina attended The Institute of Art & Design in Birmingham. She has since worked as a technical designer, teacher, fashion editor, stylist, and most recently a fashion designer. With her knowledge of fashion and natural creativity, she put together a glamorous collection of gowns and dresses we will be seeing next spring. Her collection included a number of different types of dresses, from a-line dresses to body cons, high-low dresses, strapless dresses, and even gowns! The theme was completely formal and enchanting filled with sparkle that caught your eye. The colors were mostly shades of blue but had some silver, white and cream as well. Each piece had some sort of exquisite embroidery that made the dresses unique!
Some of Samina’s most notable looks shown included a royal blue, mesh, a-line dress with a jeweled belt that sat on the waist, and cream top with black embroidery, and a short silver body con dress that was very fitted with complete black embroidery running down each side of the dress. Her collection also had a series of high-low dresses that were shorter in the front but longer towards the back.
One of Samina’s best high-low dresses was a strapless white dress with subtle hints of silver jewels across the chest. This dress had a goddess-like feel to it and was one of my personal favorites! There was also many other high-low dresses all in different shades of blue from royal blue to baby blue. They had more of a relaxed fit and flowed wonderfully on each of the models. Another eye-catching dress shown from the collection was a long silver fitted ball gown that was jeweled all over the dress going in an asymmetrical form. It was conservative but classy with just enough glam to make the dress shine! Her inspiration for the line evidently came from her own sense of eclectic yet classy style, as she wore black dress pants with a silver a-line sleeved shirt that had jeweled embroidery with sparkles to the event. She also had matching glittery silver sandal pumps to match!
The menswear collection presented was formal attire from suits to tuxes. One of Samina’s looks included a navy suit with a white button-down shirt and royal blue tie. Another memorable suit was the navy suit with a hot pink button down shirt and matching tie. One of my personal favorite looks was the light grey plaid vest with matching dress pants, a dark blue polka dot dress shirt and yellow tie. Another great look was this dark grey tux that had a royal blue button down dress shirt and blue bow tie to match!
Both collections were exemplified Samina’s eye for fashion and creativity, making the show very inspiring. For the spring we can expect to see different shades of blue and grey. For women, expect a lot of sparkle and jewels and both a-line and body con dresses. It seems as though spring fashion will take a toll for the better with extensive detail on almost every piece, making each an every item in your closet pop with color and accents. The spring is the time to say ‘good-bye’ to the dark hues we see in the winter and ‘hello’ to fun, warm colors of the season, which is precisely what Samina does with her line.
