Make Your Own Almond Milk
Hi All You Beautiful Trimmers! So, I don’t know about you guys, but I was so stressed this past week! Exams, exams, exams...but they’re finally over! I needed so much energy to survive this past week and one of the best beverages to serve that purpose was almond milk! I love vanilla almond milk as a nice, cold drink to re-energize me when I’m ready to give up studying and need a break. Besides that though...it tastes great with cereal, in smoothies or even to make ice cream with!
It’s also an alternate to dairy milk, and soy milk for those of you who might be vegans, lactose intolerant or just don’t like dairy/soy milk. The best part is that almond milk is so easy to make.
Here is a simple recipe!
1 cup of raw almonds
2 cups of water
And, here’s how you make it:
The night before you want to make the almond milk, soak the almonds. The next day, put the almonds, along with 2 cups of water in the blender and blend until the almonds turn into a smooth, white liquid. Drain the almond milk out through cheesecloth. Squeeze the almond mixture through the cheesecloth so you get every little, delicious bit.
*FUN FACT* - You can use the almond meal (crumbly bits leftover from draining the mixture) to make macaroons!
Your almond milk is ready! Now you can either drink it as is, or you can flavor it. I personally love vanilla almond milk.
For vanilla: flavor with 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract and 3 tablespoons of sugar or honey.
For chocolate: flavor with 2 tablespoons of any kind of chocolate powder and 3 tablespoons of sugar. You can use hot cocoa mix too, but don’t use sugar if you use it.
This is so delicious, and oh so healthy! Enjoy, lovelies and stay tuned for some more yummy recipes!
