Diesel and Duke Make Simple Delicious
Located in the heart of New Brunswick on Easton Ave, my roommate and I had anxiously been awaiting the opening of this small, orange building for what felt like forever. Diesel and Duke, founded by Rutgers alumni, carries the standard, classic American foods like burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and, of course, fried oreos. With nothing on their menu over $8, it’s the ideal place to grab food with friends when you’re sick of the dining hall or trying to cook your own food.
The first time I went in the fall, I got the Breakfast burger and was instantly hooked. Adorned with a sunny-side egg, bacon, and the most addicting aioli sauce in the world, I was instantly hooked. As someone who is obsessed with burgers and breakfast foods, any burger place that can pull of a breakfast burger that’s this delicious is somewhere I fall in love with immediately. A few friends got fries with their burgers, but said they were somewhat bland, and after trying one or two, I agree that they were decent fries, but not as outstanding as their burgers are. The second time I went to Diesel and Duke’s, I couldn’t help myself and got the Breakfast burger again instead of branching out, but my roommate got the S.P.B.B burger (sriracha, peanut butter, bacon burger) and was head over heels for it, which made me almost regret getting the same thing twice. We were both so in love that I know we’ll be going back soon, and this time I’m going to try my hardest to branch out instead of sticking to my Breakfast burger, as amazing as it is.
Overall, Diesel and Duke is fresh, delicious, and cheap, which can sometimes be a rarity in New Brunswick where things are typically only good or inexpensive, not both. They also have a ton of great weekly specials, if I haven't already convinced you to run out in this arctic weather and grab some fresh, hot food.
